A sure-fire future Lincoln Hall of Famer, Asha Atkinson was an all-around player from 2004-2008 and was the fifth women’s basketball player in program history at the time to reach the 1,000-point plateau when she reached the coveted plateau against Newport News Apprentice School on Feb. 2, 2008. To this day, Atkinson is the only women’s basketball player to rank in the Lions top ten all time in points (9th); rebounds (7th); assists (8th); blocked shots (5th) and steals (8th). Atkinson helped lead the Lions to their first ever championship during the 2006-07 season winning the Association of DIII Independents (AD3I) tournament. She reached double figures 53 times throughout her career and recorded 21 double-doubles including a career high 28 points and 14 rebounds against Wilkes in 2006. She was named to the AD3I Second Team following the conclusion of the 2005-06 season an earned AD3I player of the Week honors twice in February 2006. In addition to her all-time top ten ranking in the five major statistical categories, Atkinson is also ranked in Lincoln’s all-time top ten in 15 additional categories, including a scoring average of 11.1 points per game (10th all time).
