Box Score The Lincoln University men's basketball team dropped their fourth straight contest away from the friendly confines of Manuel rivero Hall Monday night, losing 78-60 to University of the Sciences at the Bobby Morgan Arena in Philadelphia.

The L:ions fall to 1-4 on the season while the Devils improve to 2-2

Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) led the Lions with 16 points while
Brandon Smith (Philadelphia, Pa./Girard College) added 12.Â
Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) led Lincoln with seven rebounds. Williams also added eight points, seven of which came in the first five minutes of the game.

Those seven points is what kept the game close in the early minutes as the Devils scored first and led the entire length of the contest.  Williams' last basket brought the Lions within two 9-7 before USciences exploded with a 26-4 run over the next nine minutes to take a 35-11 lead with 6:31 remaining. Lincoln cut the lead to 16 38-22 before heading into the locker-room down 44-24 at halftime.

Smith scored seven of the Lions first nine points of the second half as they whittled the lead down to 15, 48-33 in the first 2:26 of the period. Lincoln had a chance to cut further into the Devils lead but was unable to take advantage of two straight USci turnovers, which allowed the Devils to again produce a substantial run and increase their lead.

The substantial run was a 16-6 spurt which pushed USciences' lead to 64-39 with 11:35 remaining. The Lions would come no closer than 16 points the rest of the way.

The Lions shot just 37.7% (26-69) from the field for the game while the Devils converted 49.1% (28-57). The big difference was in three point field goals where the Devils made 12 of 30 from beyond the arc (40%) while the Lions connected on just two of 17 three point shots (11.8%). USciences outrebounded Lincoln 48-32 and dished out 19 assists (28 FG) to the Lions' nine (26 FG).Â

The Lincoln men's basketball team returns to action on Thursday, November 21, 2019 with a non-conference game at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina.
