Lincoln University, PA – February 2026 – The Lincoln University (PA) men's basketball program has been named the recipient of the CIAA Fred Vaughn Academic Award after posting a conference-best 3.46 team GPA.

The award, presented annually to the CIAA men's basketball program with the highest cumulative team GPA, recognizes excellence in the classroom alongside performance on the court. Lincoln's 3.46 mark led all conference institutions, underscoring the program's commitment to academic discipline, accountability, and holistic student-athlete development.

The Fred Vaughn Academic Award is one of the conference's most respected academic honors, symbolizing the standard of achievement that extends beyond competition. For the Lions, the recognition reflects a culture built on preparation, structure, and daily consistency in both academic and athletic spaces.

Throughout the academic year, Lincoln student-athletes balanced demanding travel schedules, conference competition, and full academic course loads while maintaining one of the strongest collective academic performances in the league.

The 3.46 team GPA not only positioned Lincoln at the top of the CIAA in men's basketball but also reinforces the department's broader emphasis on academic success across all programs.

With this honor, the Lions continue to demonstrate that championship-level standards are not limited to the hardwood they are built in the classroom.
