Box Score The Lincoln University men's basketball team placed all five starters in double figures as they snapped a two game losing streak with a 69-54 win over Elizabeth City State University on Saturday at Manuel Rivero Hall.

The Lions improve to 11-12 overall and 6-7 in CIAA games. The Vikings fall to 10-12 overall and 3-9 in league play.

Gevon Arrington (Petersburg, Va./Petersburg (Richard Bland)) led the Lions with 16 points and seven rebounds.Â
Cameron Campbell (Fayetteville, N.C./Trinity Christian ) and
Elijah Bush (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore (Essex County CC)) added 12 points apiece while
Josh Page (Washington, D.C./Rock Creek Christian Academy) and Deaquan William both scored ten points. Bush also had seven rebounds.

Shyheid Petteway led ECSU with 13 points while Zacchaeus Hobbs chipped in 12 and five assists. Corey Mendez added ten points to round out the Vikings double figure scorers.

It was a back and forth battle for much of the first 14 minutes as neither team led by more than two possessions sand the lead changing four times. The Lions were within one 22-21 with 6:47 left in the period when the Vikings went on an 8-0 run to take their biggest lead at 31-20 at the 3:25 mark. Lincoln finished up the half with seven straight points to cut the deficit to two at the break 30-28.
The Lions scored five of the first seven points in the second half to take a one point lead. The lead changed hands twice more before the Lions broke a 37-37 tie with a 21-7 tear to go up by 14, 58-44 with eight minutes remaining. Campbell, Arrington and Williams started the run with consecutive baskets and Lincoln finished the run with ten straight points courtesy of two and-ones (by Page and Bush) and capped by a coast-to-coast slam dunk by
Jordan Camper (Chester, Pa./Chester).
Following the Camper slam, the Vikings trimmed the lead to nine with a 6-1 flourish before LU scored the next eight points to take their biggest lead of the game at 67-50 with 1:41 remaining. ECSU scored four of the final six points to make the final margin 15, 69-54.
Lincoln's defense held the Vikings to just 28.1% shooting from the field (18-64) while their offense connected at a 47.2% rate (25-53). ECSU sank five three-pointers to LU's one while the Lions were slightly better at the free throw line (18-27, 66.7% to ESCU's 13-20, 65%). The Lions also outrebounded the Vikings 44-40.
The men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, February 17, 2018 when they travel to face Virginia Union is a key CIAA North Division contest. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
