Box Score The Lincoln University men's basketball team extended their winning streak to four games on Sunday with a decisive 70-48 victory over Queens College in Queens, New York.
The Lions improve to 6-3 with the win. Their four game win streak is the team's longest since the 2013-14 season. Lincoln's 5-2 record to start the season is also the team's best start to a season since the team went 7-1 to start the 2013-14 season. The Knights fall to 2-5 with the loss
Elijah Bush (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore (Essex County CC)) led all scorers with 14 points via a solid seven of nine shooting effort.Â
Gevon Arrington (Chesterfield, Va./Petersburg (Richard Bland)) and
Jordan Camper (Chester, Pa./Chester) added 13 points apiece. Camper also led the team with eight rebounds.Â
Myles Markland (Petersburg, Va./Matoaca (Richard Bland)) dished out a game high four assists.
Keenan Gorski led the Knights with 11 points.
After trailing, albeit by no more than four, for the first 8:38 of the game, the Lions exploded with a 20-2 uprising, which included a 14-0 spurt at the end of the run to take control of the game with a 29-14 lead with 2:56 left in the half. Â Â Camper and Arrington combined to score the first 12 points of the run, followed by a basket from Bush and a three-pointer from
Cameron Campbell (Fayetteville, N.C./Trinity Christian ). Arrington added another basket and Campbell a free throw to complete the run.
Two late baskets from Arrington pushed the lead to 17 before QC's Dwayne Henry sank a half-court three-pointer at the buzzer to make the score 35-21 at the half. It was the Knights ' only three-point basket of the half (1-14).
Baskets by Markland, Bush and
Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) opened the second half scoring for the Lions as they built the lead to 20 points at 41-21. Queens cut the lead back down to 16 before the Lions produced another big run, a 17-4 flourish to increase their lead to its biggest margin of 29 points at 58-29 with 9:51 remaining. Queens would come no closer than 20 the rest of the way and finished the game with a 10-5 run to make the final score 70-48.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, December 9, 2017 when they face Lynn University in the first round of the Manchin Classic hosted by Salem University.
