RICHMOND, Va. — The Lincoln University placed ninth at the CIAA Bowling Round-up, which concluded Sunday and was hosted by Virginia Union University.
The Lady Lions posted a 6-12 record over three days at the tournament. Virginia State, Bowie State and Elizabeth City State each finished with 15-3 records as VSU won based on most total pins. Fayetteville State, Winston-Salem State and Virginia Union were 11-7, while Saint Augustine's was seventh with an 8-10 record. Shaw placed eighth at 7-11, while Chowan (3-15), Johnson C. Smith (2-16) and Livingstone (2-16) rounded out the event.
During the opening day, Lincoln got wins over Johnson C. Smith (743-604) and Livingstone (712-622).
Chantel Hamilton (Philadelphia, Pa./Norristown Area HS) and
Tamia Davis (Pittsburgh, Pa./City Charter HS) paced the Lady Lions against the Golden Bulls with 171s. Against Livingstone,
Sarah Danaher (Waitsfield, Vt./Harwood Union HS), who was selected Team MVP, bowled a 178.
On Saturday, Lincoln earned victories over Johnson C. Smith (651-584) and Livingstone (747-591). Davis led the way against Johnson C. Smith with a 135, while Hamilton rolled a 174 to lead the Lady Lions past Livingstone.
During the final day, which featured Baker Matches, Lincoln grabbed wins over Johnson C. Smith (585-486) and Shaw (524-486).
The Lady Lions return to action March 15-17 in Fayetteville, N.C., at the North & South Divisional Meet III.
