Lady Lions bowl season-best six wins over weekend

Lincoln went 6-9 over the weekend at the CIAA North & South Divisional II Meet at Winston-Salem State
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.  — The Lincoln University bowling team rattled off six wins over the weekend to go 6-9 at the CIAA North & South Divisional II, hosted by Winston-Salem State University.
 
“The biggest thing about this weekend is that we are growing together as a team,” Lincoln head coach Tim Lewis said. “Other teams in the CIAA are starting to take notice on how well we are playing. I am proud of them and proud of the effort this past weekend.”
 
Sarah Danaher (Waitsfield, Vt./Harwood Union HS) and Chantel Hamilton (Philadelphia, Pa./Norristown Area HS) finished inside the Top 30. Danaher averaged 155.3 per game, while Hamilton averaged 152.30.
 
The Lady Lions, who registered six wins against the CIAA Northern Division for the first time since
becoming a CIAA member, opened play on Friday and went 1-4, picking up a 751-735 win over Virginia Union as Hamilton rolled a 178 to pace Lincoln.
 
During play on Saturday, Lincoln went 2-3, earning wins over Virginia Union, 755-739, and Chowan, 633-619. In the two wins, Hamilton bowled a 185 (vs. Virginia Union) and a 146 (vs. Chowan).
 
Sunday's action featured baker matches as the Lady Lions went 3-2 with victories over Elizabeth City State, Chowan and Virginia Union.
 
Lincoln, just a game back for the final spot in the CIAA Northern Division for the CIAA Bowling Championships, will look to keep the momentum rolling as the Lady Lions travel to Richmond, Va., Feb. 8-10 for the CIAA North & South Round-up.
