MISENHEIMER, N.C. –
George Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor HS) and
Kenny Sharpe (Chester, Pa./Elite Academy) each finished in double figures in scoring Monday night as the Lincoln University (PA) men's basketball team used a big first-half run in rolling past Pfeiffer, 65-55, at Merner Gymnasium.
Sharpe poured in a game-high 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting, while dishing out four assists and pulling down three rebounds. Jackson had 20 points, including three 3-pointers and went 7-for-7 at the free-throw line as the Lions were 21-of-53 shooting for 40 percent.
Lincoln (5-1) opened the game on a 10-2 run, capped by a
George Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor HS) 3-pointer just two minutes into the game and extended the margin to 28-13 after another Jackson 3-pointer with 6:50 remaining in the opening half.
The Falcons (1-6) battled back and used a 9-4 run during the final six minutes to close the deficit to 32-22 at the half.
A 3-pointer by Sharpe with 16:11 left gave the Lions a 39-25 advantage, but the Falcons refused to go quietly and cut the margin to 52-43 after a pair of free throws by Josh Humphrey with 5:01 remaining.
Pfeiffer trimmed the deficit to 61-53 after a Humphrey 3-pointer with 46 seconds left, but free throws down the stretch by Jackson and Sharpe sealed the victory.
Humphrey led the Falcons with 13 points and a game-high 14 boards. Tayron Gibson finished with 12 points, while Montez Singleton chipped in with 10 points as Pfeiffer shot 46 percent (19-of-41) from the floor.
The Lions return to action 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9 in the annual Battle of the Firsts rivalry on the hardwood as Lincoln travels to Cheyney University. To listen to the contest through live audio,
