Box Score LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University men's basketball team fell behind early and nearly rallied from a double-digit deficit in the second half before falling, 73-69, to Central State University on Wednesday at Manuel Rivero Gymnasium.
Kenny Sharpe (Chester, Pa./Elite Academy) scored 21 of his career-high 26 points in the second half as the Lions nearly rallied from 19 points down.
Will Cole (Newark, NJ/Cesar Chavez HS) added 13 points, seven rebounds and two blocks, while
George Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor HS) scored nine of his 11 points as the free-throw line as Lincoln shot 34 percent (18-of-53) from the floor.
Central State (8-5) drained six 3-pointers and shot 39 percent from the floor in the opening half to take a 35-26 lead into the break.
The Lions (7-2) trailed by as many as 19 points, 63-44, in the second half with 6:53 left, but rallied to cut the deficit to 69-65 after a 21-6 run run with 1:07 remaining. Central State extended the margin to 71-65 after a pair of free throws by DeMarkus Isom-Jones.
Lincoln cut the advantage to 71-69 after a pair of free throws by Sharpe with 40 seconds left, but that was as close as the Lions would get as Phillip Gates sank a pair of free throws with seven seconds remaining to give the Marauders the win.
Isom-Jones finished with 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting and LeDonte Body had 16 points. Gates scored 11 as Central State shot 41 percent (23-of-56).
