RALEIGH, N.C. (March 13, 2011) — The Lincoln University baseball team dropped two games to Shaw University on Sunday, 11-6 and 9-6, the team's final road games of 12 that started the 2011 season.
The Lions (2-10, 2-10 CIAA) played very well aside from two of Saturday's 14 innings. Melvin Robinson (Bear, DE/William Penn) was a combined 5-for-7 with 3 RBIs and two runs scored while Marquise Hudson (Piscataway N.J./Piscataway HS) was 3-for-8 with two RBIs, a run, a double and a stolen base.
The Bears scored their combined 20 runs in the first inning of each game.
At the plate, Lincoln pieced together runs. In the first game, Hudson continued his hot-hitting with a 2-for-4 day with a run and a stolen base. Melvin Robinson (Bear, DE/William Penn) was also 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Omar Cham (Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park) had the Lions' only extra-base hit, the double.
In the second game, Hudson delivered a double and 2 RBI's while Robinson was a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish with two more RBIs and a run. Freshman Demitrius Morris (Newark, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) pitched a scoreless five innings with seven strikeouts and a walk. At the plate, he notched a hit in three at bats with two runs and an RBI.
