Lions show inconsistency in losses to Shaw

RALEIGH, N.C.-In a tightly contested match between Lincoln and Shaw University at Lyons Park, the Bears came up when it mattered most in winning game 1 of the double header, 6-5. In Game 2, Shaw proved to be dominant all-around, winning 13-2.


GAME 1

Things were tight through the first few innings. It seemed as if Lincoln would be in good shape to capture their second straight win after going up 5-4 in the 6th inning.

Shaw would quickly respond in the final and deciding inning with 2 runs.

Melvin Robinson (Bear, DE/William Penn) contributed with an RBI and a run scored. Kyle Brooks (Baltimore, Md./Seton Hill HS), Maurice Brown (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg HS), and Omar Cham (Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park) had 1 hit and an RBI apiece. Cham had a run scored as well.

Peter Reyes (Bronx, NY/Enviornmental Studies) got the loss, pitching 5 innings, allowing 3 runs, with 3 hits.

GAME 2

The Lions allowed the Bears to get on the board eleven times over the first three innings. This spelled doom for Lincoln as they finally got on the board in the sixth inning twice.

Shaw would close things out in the seventh.

Melvin Robinson (Bear, DE/William Penn) went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI's and a run scored. Alej Rosario had a hit and one run scored.

Rosario received the loss, throwing for 5 innings, allowing 9 runs.
