Men open tonight versus Holy Family

Tonight's men's basketball game is truly a debut as the Lincoln Lions take on the Tigers of Holy Family.

Not only is this the first competition of the 2010-11 season, but nine new faces and a new head coach make up this year's squad. Coach John Hill brings 20 years of experience on the sideline and a combined seven years as a head coach at CIAA schools Saint Paul's College and Virginia State, but tonight, he will experience his first home game at Manuel Rivero Hall.

The game tips off at 7 p.m. and can be streamed live on ustream.com/lulions and BradywineRadio.com.

Hill's roster includes just two members that started games last year in Eugene Smith (West Palm Beach, Fl/PennWood ) and Denzel Mooney (Baltimore, Md./Western School of Technology). Smith, a senior, was the team's leading rebounder with 6.9 per game, while Mooney returns as the team's top guard with 5.6 points per game and a dangerous 3-point threat. Smith is the leading returning scorer with 7.5 per game.

Holy Family enters with a slight edge having played two games already. As part of the Northeast-10 Challenge hosted by the College of Saint Rose on Nov. 13, the Tigers dropped their opener to Saint Anselm, 92-59, and the next day fell to Saint Rose, 96-69.

HFU has two primary threats in Alberto Munoz (16 ppg) and Rashaad Sneed (11 ppg). Sneed is tied with Sam Mushman as the top rebounder with 6.5 per game

They rely heavily on the 3-ball. Through just two games, the Tigers have combined for 49 attempts but have made just 12.

After this contest, Lincoln Travels to Salem International in Salem, West Va., on Nov. 22. Next Friday at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pa., Lincoln and Cheyney meet in the hardwood edition of the Battle of The Firsts. Last year, the Wolves edged Lincoln, 76-74.
