Lions Sweep Virginia State in CIAA Doubleheader

ETTRICK, VA – April 11, 2026 – The Lincoln University (PA) softball team earned a doubleheader sweep over Virginia State on Saturday, winning 5-4 in game one and 12-3 in game two.

Game 1 – Lincoln (PA) 5, Virginia State 4

Lincoln used a late push to secure a 5-4 victory in game one.

The Lions broke through in the third inning with two runs and remained within striking distance throughout before delivering in the seventh inning, plating three runs to take the lead.

Ashley Stringer (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville High School) led the offense with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, driving in two runs and scoring twice, while Lincoln totaled six hits in the win.

Game 2 – Lincoln (PA) 12, Virginia State 3

Lincoln carried that momentum into game two, using a dominant offensive showing to complete the sweep with a 12-3 win.

The Lions jumped out early with two runs in the first and second innings before erupting for seven runs in the fourth to break the game open. Lincoln added another run in the fifth to cap the scoring.

Aliya Rose (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Preperatory) recorded two hits and scored twice, while Cici Bullock (Frederick, MD) drove in two runs. Ashlynn Sherman (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville High School) added a strong all-around performance with two hits and two RBIs.

In the circle, Sherman and Breylin Gamble (Menifee, CA) combined to limit Virginia State to just three runs, securing the win and the sweep for the Lions.

Lincoln will look to build on the sweep as CIAA play continues.
