DOVER, DE – April 15, 2026 – The Lincoln University (PA) softball team dropped a pair of games to Delaware State on Wednesday, falling 1-4 in game one and 5-6 in game two.
Game 1 – Lincoln (PA) 1. Delaware State 4
Lincoln recorded seven hits but was limited to one run in a 4-1 loss in game one.
The Lions broke through in the sixth inning for their lone run after being held scoreless through the first five innings. Ashley Stringer (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville High School) led the offense with two hits, while Aliya Rose (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Preperatory) added a hit and scored the Lions' only run.
Lincoln's pitching staff kept the game within reach, allowing just four runs, but the Lions were unable to capitalize on multiple scoring opportunities.
Game 2 – Lincoln (PA) 5, Delaware State 6
Lincoln showed resilience in game two but came up just short in a 6-5 loss.
The Lions struck early with a run in the first inning and stayed within striking distance throughout. Lincoln rallied late with two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to close the gap.
Ashley Stringer (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville High School) had a strong performance, reaching base multiple times and scoring three runs, while Jordin Cathey (Long Beach, CA/Gahr High School) recorded two hits and drove in two runs. Amari Frederick (Woodbridge, VA) added two hits and an RBI to help pace the offense.
Despite the late push, Delaware State held on to secure the win.
