Lincoln University, PA – February 12, 2025 - This upcoming season, the Lincoln University (PA) Lions will be competing in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) for the first time in the school's history. Coach
Vince Connor is very thrilled and looking forward to this upcoming season.
The Lions are ranked #6 in the coach's poll in the CACC south division. Playing in a more challenging conference, Coach Connor knows there will be challenges playing in a new division, but knows that his team is able to fight adversity. One of those challenges are playing way more competitive teams within the division.
"This is by far the most talented collection of players ever to be assembled at one time at Lincoln University" Connor said, showing the admiration for how skilled his players are. With power and velocity, the Lions are looking to show they belong in the CACC.
Key Players to Watch
There are some players to look out for this upcoming year. Look for an immediate impact from
freshmen Ethan Craig (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape HS), Isaiah Negron (Merion Station, PA/Lower Merion HS), and Sean Stoney (Rosedale, NY/Archbishop Molloy HS). Transfer students,
Sophomore Aaron Graves II (Upper Marlboro, MD/Riverdale Baptist) and Juniors Keith Gardner (Franklinton, NC/South Granville HS) and Scott Renk (Pottstown, PA/Spring-Ford HS) are transfers to keep on the lookout as well. "All 3 of these guys change the way we play defense" states Connor. "We have not had a true first baseman since I've been here…and now we have three in one class".
Some notable returners include
Seniors Wesley Hogan (Washington, D.C./The Maret School), Miguel Agramonte (Fallston, Md./Fallston), Sebastian Iguaran (Port Orange, Fla./Spruce Creek), Juniors Solomon Devard (Bear, Del./MOT Charter), Jalen Randolph, and Sophomores Dennis Flores (Manchester, CT) and Billy Bowen (Cincinnati, OH). Look for them to keep improving on the field this season.
Looking Ahead
As the Lions prepare for the 2025 season, Connor has set high expectations for his team and for himself as well. Connor's goals for the season are to make sure that the team fights hard, no matter who their opponent is. He also wants the Lions to make the conference tournament, to show that they rightfully belong in the CACC.
Connor's personal goal is to not get ejected. Being the passionate coach that he is, Connor got ejected twice because he tends to stick up for his players so that they can stay in the game. "I really fight for my guys and I don't want them to have to feel like they need to respond to the umpire because they know I got them" Connor states. Connor believes that having this personal discipline will help the team's success as well.
The Lions have their first matchup of the season when they go to Dover, DE to play a doubleheader against the Delaware State University Hornets on Friday, February 21
st, 2025, starting at 12:00 P.M.
"We're very limited in our ability to prepare… but we're up for the task. Get your popcorn baby. It's going to be fun" states Connor.
