Lions’ Season Comes to a Close at CIAA Tournament

ETTRICK, VA – May 6, 2026 – The Lincoln University (PA) baseball team saw its season come to an end with a 5-2 loss to Virginia State in the CIAA Baseball Championship.

Lincoln got off to a strong start, scoring two runs in the first inning to take an early lead. Virginia State answered in the fifth inning with four runs to shift momentum and take control of the game.

The Lions recorded nine hits offensively, with Jaden Greenidge (Richmond, Va./Monacan) and Keith Gardner (Franklinton, NC/South Granville HS) leading the way with multiple hits. Fredrick Perry and Solomon Devard (Bear, Del./MOT Charter) each drove in a run for Lincoln.

On the mound, Lincoln's pitching staff limited Virginia State to eight hits and did not allow an earned run, but defensive miscues proved costly throughout the contest.

Lincoln was unable to generate additional offense after the opening frame, as Virginia State held on for the win.

With the loss, the Lions conclude their 2026 season. Lincoln showed resilience throughout the year, continuing to compete and develop while building a foundation for the future.
