Â
This game marked a huge milestone for the Lincoln University women's soccer team as they were able to win in their home opener for the first time since 2017 when they won here at Lincoln in a match up with Washington Adventist University.
Â
"This was a huge win for us and a great way to start the season. It feels fantastic to see our hard work from preseason pay off. Despite dealing with injuries, we stayed true to our defense and delivered offensively. I'm incredibly proud of my team." Said Head Coach
Sal Minor in his excitement after the team's big win at home.
Â
The offense was led by the team's underclassmen as the freshman and sophomore student athletes were able to score all three goals in today's game. It was Freshman
Adiaha Witherspoon () who struck first for the Lions towards the end of the first half with an assist from
Briana Poullard (). This goal is only the first for the freshman who still has a long season ahead. The Lions managed to close the game out in the second half with 2 more goals, sophomore's

The Cardinals played well on the offensive side of the ball playing with true aggression during today's game.
