LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA (March 11, 2024) - This fall, Lincoln University's Athletics program has demonstrated prowess on the field and shone brightly in the academic arena, achieving an impressive overall GPA of 3.0. This accomplishment reflects Lincoln's unwavering dedication to balancing their sporting commitments with educational responsibilities, underscoring the true essence of being a student-athlete.
Team Highlights
The academic achievements of the athletics program are especially noteworthy within its teams. The men's basketball team led the charge with a GPA of 3.08, followed closely by the baseball team at 2.90 and the football team at 2.86. These scores highlight the commitment of the male athletes to their studies amidst rigorous training schedules and competitions.
On the women's side, the teams have set even higher benchmarks. The softball team achieved an outstanding 3.52 GPA, with the volleyball team not far behind at 3.45 and women's basketball securing a 3.40 GPA. Zadaisha Waddell, the Head Softball Coach, expressed immense pride in the student-athlete's dedication to their academic endeavors. We've had a 3.5 GPA for the last two semesters and will continue to excel in the classroom," Waddell stated, highlighting the sustained academic excellence within the softball team.

Ten Lincoln University student-athletes achieved the pinnacle of academic success by earning a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester. This elite group includes Taylor Brown and Any Gibson from women's basketball, Jaden Davis from football, Dennis Flores from baseball, Justyce King, Austin Lord, and Nevaeh Washington from women's soccer, Jaleesa Lanier from women's basketball, Mackenzee Rasheed from softball, and Dewarren Watkins from men's basketball. Their remarkable achievement showcases the high academic standards upheld by the student-athletes at Lincoln.
Furthermore, 158 student-athletes, representing a significant portion of the athletics program, earned Athletic Department (AD) Honors by achieving a GPA of 3.00 or higher. This accolade, earned by 55% of all student-athletes, reflects the broad-based commitment to academic excellence within the program.
