Lincoln University Celebrates Alumnus Kai Gray Signing with DC Defenders

Lincoln University, PA – January 26,2026 - Lincoln University is proud to recognize Kai Gray, a former standout defensive back for the Lincoln Lions, on his latest professional achievement as a member of the DC Defenders in the United Football League (UFL). Gray's progression to the Defenders roster is a significant milestone in his ongoing professional football career and a testament to his perseverance and elite athletic ability.

Gray, born August 15, 1997, in Newark, New Jersey, began his collegiate football journey at Rutgers before transferring to Sam Houston State and eventually to Lincoln University in 2022. During his season with the Lions, Gray made his presence felt on defense and finished his Lincoln career with standout production including 82 tackles, multiple forced turnovers, and several pass breakups, establishing himself as one of the team's premier defenders.

After his collegiate career, Gray signed with the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL), where he excelled as a rookie appearing in all 18 games, recording 54 tackles, two interceptions, and returning one for a touchdown. His performance earned him nomination as the West Division's Most Outstanding Rookie.

Continuing his professional journey, Gray has now signed with the DC Defenders, joining the UFL where he will compete at an elite level of American professional football. Playing for the Defenders places Gray among a growing cadre of professional athletes who are making an impact in the spring football circuit, and it marks a significant achievement for a Lincoln University graduate.
