Lincoln University, PA – December 9, 2024 – The Lincoln University (PA) men's basketball team kicked off their CIAA schedule with a strong 64-50 win over Claflin University at Manuel Rivero Hall. The Lions set the tone early and controlled the game throughout in front of an energized home crowd.
Senior Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J./University) led all scorers with 16 points, adding 5 rebounds and 2 steals to his standout performance. Fellow senior Peter Sorber (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) dominated the boards with a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Senior Ethan Garita (Trenton, N.J./Princeton Day School) was also a force inside, contributing 8 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists.
The Lions built a 33-21 lead by halftime and maintained their edge with efficient second-half shooting, hitting 50% from the field. Lincoln's defense stifled Claflin, limiting them to 29.1% shooting while forcing 15 turnovers.
With the win, the Lions improve to 4-4 overall and 1-0 in CIAA play. Lincoln will next take on Florida Southern College on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 6 p.m. at home as they aim to build on this momentum.
