Lincoln University, PA – December 13, 2024 – Despite a stellar performance from senior Ethan Garita (Trenton, N.J./Princeton Day School), the Lincoln University (PA) men's basketball team fell to Florida Southern College, 86-74, in a hard-fought non-conference battle at Manuel Rivero Hall.
Garita led the Lions with a game-high 25 points on a flawless 9-of-9 shooting from the field, while grabbing 12 rebounds to notch a double-double. Senior Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J./University) contributed 11 points and 5 rebounds, while sophomore Tyleek Fields (Yonkers, NY/Cardinal Hayes High School) added 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Lincoln kept pace early, shooting 50% in the first half, but trailed 38-34 at the break. Florida Southern's depth made the difference, as their bench added 31 points, and they capitalized on turnovers to stretch their lead in the second half.
The Lions fought hard, dominating with 42 points in the paint and 44 rebounds, but the late surge from Florida Southern sealed the game.
Lincoln (4-5) will look to regroup as they head back into conference play against Johnson C. Smith University on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 1 p.m. in Charlotte, NC.
