Charlotte, NC – December 16, 2024 – The Lincoln University (PA) men's basketball team continued their strong CIAA play with a dominant 78-66 road victory over Johnson C. Smith University at Brayboy Gymnasium. A second-half surge, led by key performances from the Lions' seniors, secured the win and pushed Lincoln to 2-0 in CIAA competition.
Senior Ethan Garita (Trenton, N.J./Princeton Day School) delivered a standout performance, finishing with a game-high 21 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the field and 11-of-14 from the free-throw line, while adding 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Fellow senior Peter Sorber (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) contributed 19 points and 5 rebounds, dominating the paint with efficient 8-of-13 shooting. Senior Reggie Hudson (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) chipped in with 10 points and 2 assists to round out the Lions' balanced attack.
The Lions started slow, trailing 42-32 at halftime, but turned up the intensity in the second half, shooting an impressive 60.7% from the field. Lincoln's defense also clamped down, holding Johnson C. Smith to just 41.2% shooting in the final period and forcing 11 turnovers.
With the win, Lincoln improves to 5-5 overall and remains undefeated in CIAA play at 2-0. The Lions will shift gears as they head to the CP3 Tournament in Uncasville, CT, where they will face Benedict College on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 12 p.m..
