Indiana, PA – November 27, 2024 – The Lincoln University (PA) men's basketball team came up just short in a tightly contested battle against Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), falling 57-61 at the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex.

The Lions showed resilience throughout, keeping the game within reach despite early offensive struggles. After a slow start, trailing 16-22 at halftime, Lincoln found their rhythm in the second half, outscoring IUP 41-39. However, the Lions couldn't overcome IUP's dominance on the boards, where they were out rebounded 49-32.

Senior Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J./University) delivered an outstanding performance, leading all scorers with 23 points on 7-of-14 shooting and grabbing 4 rebounds. Senior Reggie Hudson (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) contributed 7 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds, while Senior Ethan Garita (Trenton, N.J./Princeton Day School) added 6 points and a team-high 7 rebounds. Freshman Jahmire Brewer (Queens, NY/South Shore HS (NY)) chipped in 8 points off the bench, going 2-of-4 from beyond the arc.

The Lions showed grit, forcing 14 turnovers and scoring 11 points off those opportunities. Despite their strong defensive effort and 87.5% free-throw shooting, Lincoln struggled from the field, shooting just 29.0%.

The Lions will look to bounce back in their home opener against Cheyney University of Pennsylvania on December 5, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. in Lincoln University, PA.
