Six Lions Bring Home Seven Golds From Frank Colden Invite

Final Results

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania women's and men's track programs placed second and third, respectively, at the Frank Colden Invitational hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday.

The ladies finished behind only Swarthmore in the 24-team field, collecting 60 points and topping schools such as Mount St. Mary's, the host Bears, TCNJ, plus Moravian while being the only HBCU in the meet.

The women ended the day with two golds, one silver, and three bronzes on top of three top-ten marks in the CIAA as well as setting six new personal records.

Aisha Carrington (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) was the leader of the female pride once more, winning the 60m dash in 7.95 seconds.

The younger of the team's two sisters, Olivia Wright (Winslow Twp., N.J/Winslow Twp.) shone brighter on that February Saturday, securing the top spot with a PR of 11.12m in the triple jump to mark the sixth-longest leap in the conference. She also landed a fourth place finish during the 60m hurdles with a 10.21 after blazing a trail to the finals in a 9.97 preliminary.

Nearly one-third (19-of-60, 31.7%) of the squad's point tally in Collegeville came from a single event; the 200m dash. Angel Adams (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Flanagan) (26.85, PR), Ade Conover (Newark, NJ/Louis Dieruff (PA)) (26.89), and Amani Adams (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Flanagan) (27.45, PR) secured second through fourth place, in order.

The 4x400m team of O. Wright, Aniyah Epps (Baltimore, Md./Western), Destiny Pierre Mathieu (Drexil Hill, Pa./Prendie & Bonner), and Nakacee McNab (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) ran a 4:09.67 to snatch third.

McNab was one of two ladies to score in the 400m as she came in 6th (1:02.76) while Jazmin Savage (Philadelphia, Pa./Overbrook) went for seventh plus a personal-record (1:02.89).

Anaeja Ferrell (Newark, Del./St. Georges) walked away with a bronze and a sixth in the CIAA distance for her 5.25m (PR) long jump.

Ida Rose Moore () came in fifth (10th in CIAA) in the long jump as well at 5.08 (PR), Talia Simpson (Cheltenham, Md./Cheltenham) placed ninth during the 60m (8.45!, and Avionne Barnes (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton) recorded the tenth-fastest time in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association in 2022-23 with a 12:21.33 3000m.

The guys trailed just Ursinus and York (PA) among the 23 participants, racking up 64 points to beat the likes of Franklin & Marshall, Gettysburg, and the Philadelphia Runner Track Club while being the only HBCU at the invite, same as the women.

The men ended the regular season finale with four golds, a pair of silvers, plus a trio of top-seven showings in the conference to go along with five PRs.

For the second straight meet, a Lion took home first place in not one, but two separate events as Nyle Buchanan (King George, Va./King George) came out on top in both the 60m (7.18) and 200m (22.97) dashes.

Daniel Cooley (Owings Mills, Md./Northern) came painstakingly close to joining his teammate in the multi-win club, topping the board with the sixth-best high jump in the CIAA this season at 1.93m while logging second for his 6.42m long jump, both new benchmarks.

The final find of the day came courtesy of the 4x400m relay quartet of Clayton McLaren (Brockton, Mass./Brimmer and May), Nasir Scott (Levittown, Pa./Harriet Tubman), Alonzo Ogunde (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven), and Irvin Marable (Somers Point, N.J./Pleasantville) who ran it in 3:32.21.

Scott finished sixth in the 400m (53.63), Ogunde set a personal-low in the 400m (55.51), and Marable ran the fourth-fastest time in the CIAA as well as at the Invitational for his 2:00.09 PR during the 800m.

Jonathan Childs (Hialeah Gardens, Fla./Mater Dei) crossed the finish line in second place with a personal-record 23.08 200m plus Jeremy Gyan (Bear, Del./Newark Charter) had a set of top-ten placements at the pole vault (3.80m) and 60m hurdle (9.58).

There were two notable outcomes in the shot put as Christopher Brown (New Castle, Del./William Penn) sneaked into the top-ten, seventh-furthest in the conference, with his throw of 12.99m while Divonte Newsome () has a new standard to clear at 10.66m.

The indoor regular season schedule is now complete and the Lions Will ready themselves for the conference championships in Winston-Salem, North Carolina next weekend.
