CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Lincoln University sophomore
Mariah Webster (Detroit, Mich./Cass Tech/) has been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today (September 13, 2022).
"Mariah has really taken to her role as team captain this season and makes every effort to help improve our back row defense," said Lincoln University Volleyball Coach
Charity Hart. "She is constantly communicating with teammates to help work out any inconsistencies during practice as well as working hard as an individual to perfect her technique. She is truly a student of the game, and this season has committed to being a more vocal and aggressive defender and it shows."
For the week, Webster finished with 55 service receptions with just three errors, while adding 28 digs. In the loss to West Chester, she had 18 receptions and no errors, along with eight digs and an ace.
Lincoln (2-2) opens CIAA action 6 p.m. Thursday, traveling to Shaw.
