OXFORD, Pa. – October 23, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) women's volleyball team fought hard in front of their home crowd Thursday night, showing grit in stretches of each set before falling 3–0 to Virginia State inside Oxford High School.
Lincoln came out with energy early, with Kaniece Wright (Bowie, MD) and Charly Manley (Upper Marlboro, MD/Frederick Douglass HS) leading the attack. Manley posted five kills, while Wright added four kills and three digs to pace the Lions' offense. Setter Ashley Fru (Brandywine, MD) continued to distribute the ball effectively with 12 assists and added five digs and a service ace.
Defensively, Donavyn Morris (Chester, PA) anchored the back row with a team-high eight digs, while Elise Carter (Smyrna, DE/Smyrna HS) chipped in four kills and an ace. Lincoln put together its best run in the second set, rallying to cut the deficit to 17–13 before the Trojans pulled away late.
The Lions (1–21, 0–11 CIAA) continue their homestand on Monday, October 27, hosting Bowie State University at 7:30 p.m. in Oxford, Pa.
