SALEM, VA – Two Lincoln University male cross country runners earned All-Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association honors placing in the top 15 of the CIAA Cross Country Championships Thursday at Green Hill Park.
Freshmen
Irvin Marable (Somers Point, N.J./Pleasantville) and
Nathaniel Baker (Philadelphia, Pa./Beeber) placed 12th and 13th, respectively, as Lincoln finished fourth in the 11-team, 8K meet. It was a six-place improvement from a season ago, and marked the fourth time in five championship races that the Lions placed fourth.
All five Lincoln harriers completed the 8K course in career-best times.
Marable shaved almost six minutes off his previous 8K mark, finishing 12th in 28:37.2, while Bakers went almost five minutes under his previous mark with a 13th-place finish 28:42.2.
Sophomore
Brandon Frierson (Philadelphia, Pa./Olney Charter) was more than four minutes better than his previous time, placing 30th in the time of 31:23.6. Freshman
Michael Amaker (Jersey City, N.J./Snyder) placed 33th with a time of 31:35.3, a shade more than three minutes faster than his previous mark. Sophomore
Clayton McLaren (Brockton, Mass./Brimmer and May) was the last Lincoln runner to complete the course, placing 35th in 31:42.7.
