A pair of Lincoln University women's basketball players were recognized by the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association  (CIAA) for their efforts in Saturday's win over Livingstone as Kwanza Murray (Summerville, S.C./Summerville (Lackawanna College)) and Janya Lilly (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Poly Tech) were named the CIAA Food Lion Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week respectively.  The announcement was made by the conference office on Monday.

Murray earns CIAA player of the Week honors for the second time, having previously received the honor back on November 25, 2019.   Lilly earned CIAA rookie of the Week honors for the first time.

The senior guard poured in 29 points in just 26 minutes against Livingstone College along with grabbing four rebounds and recording a steal.  Murray shot 60 percent from the field (9-for-15), 56 percent from three (5-for-9), and 86 percent from the free throw line (6-for-7) in helping the regionally-ranked Lions to an 84-56 win over the Blue Bears.

Murray is sixth nationally at 22.6 points per game (2nd in the CIAA) while leading the conference in field goal percentage (50 percent) and free throw percentage (88 percentage). She also currently ranks second in Division II in field goals made for the season.

Lilly came off the bench to score five points in the Lions 84-56 win over Livingstone. The Baltimore, Md. native shot 67 percent from the field and 50 percent from three and also grabbed a rebound. Lilly has appeared in ten games this season for the Lions scoring 27 points and recorded five assists and four steals.

The women's basketball team returns to action on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 when they face CIAA north division rival Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
