Box Score 2 Winston Salem State University completed their four game series sweep of the Lincoln University baseball team on Sunday, defeating the Lions 14-3 and 10-2 at BB&T Ballpark  in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
 
The Lions fall to 5-16 overall and 1-7 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association games.  The Rams improve to 16-11 overall and move to 6-0 in league play.
 
Lincoln's offense continued to struggle as the team combined for just nine total hits in the two games with only one of those going for extra bases.  Winston Salem meanwhile banged out 21 hits, 13 of which went for extra bases including three home runs in the two games.
 
Orlando Roberson (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley HS) took the loss in the opener, tossing 3.2 innings and allowing seven runs on eight hits while striking out four.  
DeVanté Parker suffered the loss in the second game, tossing five innings and allowing seven runs on seven hits while striking out seven.
 
Landon Steiner's double gave the Rams a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the opening game.  The Lions came back and tied it at 2-2 an inning and a half later, with two runs in the top of the third.
 
Singles from 
Marquis Coleman (Middle River , Md./Baltimore Polytech HS) and 
Julian Bradshaw (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooklyn Generation HS) opened the third inning and after both runners moved up on a 
Ronald Lashley (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker Academy) groundout 
Aiden Gomes (Bronx, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) singled to center field to drive in Coleman and Bradshaw with the game tying runs.
 
The lead was short-lived as WSSU got the runs back in the bottom half of the third and added multiple runs in each successive inning to go up 14-1 after six complete.  Steiner hit a home run in the fourth to give him five RBI in the game  whiel Randy Norris delivered a grand slam home run  off 
Yasser Ortiz (Carolina, P.R./Juan Jose' Osuna) in the sixth, providing the Rams with their four final runs of the game.
 
Lincoln's final run came in the seventh as Bradshaw drew a one-out walk and advanced when Gomes walked.  
Luis Nieves (Staten Island, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) pinch hit for Parker and singled to left field, scoring Bradshaw.
 
In the nightcap, Brandon Ford hit a two run home run in the first inning as Winston Salem scored three times in the first and added another run in the second to go lead 4-0 after two innings.
 
Lincoln scored their only runs in the top half of the third as Bradshaw walked and Lashley reached on an error and subsequently scored on a second Ram error.  Gomes followed with a single and two batters later 
Joshua Roberson (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley HS) reached on the third Winston Salem error of the inning driving in Lashley and making the score 4-2. A walk to 
Dominic Rheubottom (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytech HS) loaded the bases with Lions with only one out but Rams relief pitcher Corbin Easter struck out 
Christian Gil (Staten Island, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) and induced a groundout to the mound by 
Michael Howard (Bronx, N.Y./Utica College) to end the threat and leave all three runners stranded.
 
Like the first game, Winston-Salem scored runs in their final three at-bats, plating two in the fourth, one more in the fifth and three in the sixth to make the final score 10-2.
 
The Lions are back in action on Saturday, April 1, 2017 when they travel to face Bluefield State University for a four game series with two games on Saturday and two more on Sunday.
