Lincoln Baseball Drops Two at Kutztown

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KUTZTOWN, PA – Lincoln's William Hodges (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spellman HS) recorded hits in both games of the double header against Kutztown on Thursday, April 3. The Lions were shut out in game one 6-0 and dropped a close 2-1 decision in game two against the Bears.  
 
GAME ONE RECAP
Outfielders William Hodges (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spellman HS) and Latuan Boggerty (Dover, DE/Polytech HS) had the Lions only hits against Kutztown in game one of a double header. Lincoln held Kutztown scoreless for four innings until the Bears scored one run in the fifth inning and five runs in the sixth inning for a 6-0 victory.
 
Lincoln's Doug Cook (Dania Beach, FL/University School of Nova SE University) pitched five strong innings allowing three hits and walking five batters. Relief pitcher William Hodges (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spellman HS) took the mound in the sixth inning and gave up one hit. William Hodges (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spellman HS) singled to left field in the first inning while Latuan Boggerty (Dover, DE/Polytech HS) got things rolling in the second inning with a single to third base.
 
GAME TWO RECAP
In the later game, Kutztown scored two early runs off of two hits in the first inning. Doug Cook (Dania Beach, FL/University School of Nova SE University)'s RBI led to a fifth inning run scored by Ronald Lashley (Brooklyn, NY/Benjamin Banneker Academy) for the Lions lone run against the Bears. Kutztown found their way out of the fifth inning jam and held on for a 2-1 win.
 
Ronald Lashley (Brooklyn, NY/Benjamin Banneker Academy), William Hodges (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spellman HS), and Brendan Sherman-Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) all recorded hits against the Bears. Lincoln were the aggressors stealing four bases led by Ronald Lashley (Brooklyn, NY/Benjamin Banneker Academy)'s two while Stephen Smith (Los Angeles, Calif./Dorsey HS) and Doug Cook (Dania Beach, FL/University School of Nova SE University) had one a piece. DeVante Parker (Bear, DE/Appoquinimink HS) drew two walks and Alejandro Jones (Los Angeles, Calif./Dorsey HS) drew the other walk.
 
The Lions fall to 1-22 overall and will host Elizabeth City State in a four game weekend series at the LU Baseball Complex beginning on Saturday, April 5th at 1 p.m.
