Steve Talmo (New Castle, Del./William Penn HS) played in their final home game as a Lion in a double header against Winston-Salem State University on Sunday, April 14
th. The Lions loss both games 5-4 & 11-3.
Pitcher
Stephen Smith (Los Angeles, Calif./Dorsey HS) held the Rams to six hits and struck out four batters for the Lions in game one of a double header against Winston-Salem State. After a
Martin Evans (Willingboro, N.J./Church Farm HS) RBI single in the fifth inning that tied the game at 4-4, Winston-Salem State responded in the next inning with two hits and the game-winning run for a 5-4 victory.
The Lions had seven hits and forced two WSSU errors. Outfielder
William Hodges (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spellman HS) hit a pair of doubles. Hodges finished 2-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs and an RBI to lead his team. Infielder
Brendan Sherman-Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) also hit an RBI double while outfielder
Martin Evans (Willingboro, N.J./Church Farm HS) had two RBIs.
In game two, Winston-Salem State jumped out to a 10-0 lead before the Lions capitalized on three hits for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Lincoln only had six hits and committed two costly defensive errors in their 11-3 loss.
Relief pitchers
Ronald Lashley (Brooklyn, NY/Benjamin Banneker Academy) and
Devin Legins (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill Academy) both tossed a pair of strikeouts and surrendered a run each. Six different Lions recorded hits led by
Martin Evans (Willingboro, N.J./Church Farm HS). Evans finished with two RBIs and had the only double for the Lions.
Edwin Rivera (Bronx, N.Y./Gompers HS),
Martin Evans (Willingboro, N.J./Church Farm HS), and
Gabriel Santiago (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy) scored the three runs for Lincoln in their final home game of the season.
