Berry Strikes Out Eight Rams in CIAA Thriller

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – Pitcher Terence Berry, Jr. (Dover, NJ/Dover HS) struck out eight Rams in the early game of a double header on Saturday, April 12th. Lincoln loss both games to Winston-Salem State 3-1 & 8-4
 
Lincoln produced eight hits and held the Rams to seven led by infielder Ronald Lashley (Brooklyn, NY/Benjamin Banneker Academy) in game one of the double header. Lashley went 2-for-3 at the plate including two doubles and an RBI that scored outfielder Stephen Smith (Los Angeles, Calif./Dorsey HS). Outfielder Brandon Bolden (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro HS) had a double and Smith was the only Lion to record a steal.
 
After Winston-Salem State went ahead 1-0 in the second inning, both teams played great defense behind solid pitching. The Rams ended the scoring slump by scoring two runs in the last inning extending their lead to 3-0.
 
The Lions had two hits in the bottom of the seventh inning but were held to only one run and loss 3-1. Pitcher Terence Berry, Jr. (Dover, NJ/Dover HS) tossed a complete game against the Rams while striking out eight batters.
 
In the second game, Lincoln exploded for 11 hits but were held to only four runs falling to Winston-Salem State 8-4. Lincoln used three pitchers that combined for six strikeouts and held the Rams to only six hits.
 
Infielder Devin Legins (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill Academy) went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lions offense. Catcher Gabriel Santiago (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy) had two hits, two RBIs, and the Lions only double of the game. Edwin Rivera (Bronx, N.Y./Gompers HS) and Alejandro Jones (Los Angeles, Calif./Dorsey HS) also had RBIs against the Rams while Santiago and DeVante Parker (Bear, DE/Appoquinimink HS) both stole bases.  
 
Lincoln falls to 2-26 overall and 2-16 in CIAA play. The Lions will continue their four game weekend series against Winston-Salem State on Sunday, April 12th at 1 p.m.
