Box Score 2 CARY, NC – Lincoln dropped two games to St. Augustine's on Sunday, March 9
th 5-4 in game one and 4-2 in game two.
Infielder 
Ronald Lashley (Brooklyn, NY/Benjamin Banneker Academy) gave the Lions an early 1-0 lead after the first inning. Lashley singled through the left side and then reached home off of a 
William Hodges (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spellman HS)' RBI single to left field. The Falcons added two runs of their own to claim the lead in the bottom of the inning on a two run -RBI double. St. Augustine's then scored one more run in the second inning extending their lead to 3-1 before the Lions bounced back.
A defensive error by the Falcons allowed 
William Hodges (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spellman HS) to reach base in the third inning. Lincoln's 
Edwin Rivera (Bronx, N.Y./Gompers HS) hit an RBI double to right-center field to cut into the St. Aug's lead 3-2 and scoring Hodges. Over the next two innings both teams battled evenly until the Falcons opened a 5-2 lead with two runs on three hits in the fifth inning.
Lincoln responded with two hits in the sixth inning sparked by 
Edwin Rivera (Bronx, N.Y./Gompers HS)'s leadoff single up the middle. Infielder 
Brendan Sherman-Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) reached base on an error by the Falcons defense and then scored by a single base hit to center field by infielder 
Steve Talmo (New Castle, Del./William Penn HS). The Lions still trailed the Falcons 5-3 and defensively held them scoreless in the bottom of the sixth inning for a final chance.
In the seventh inning trailing by two runs, Lincoln produced two hits but scored only one run. Outfielder 
Martin Evans (Willingboro, N.J./Church Farm HS) led off the inning with a single to left-center field. Evans later advanced to second base and onto third base off of two groundouts by the Lions. 
William Hodges (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spellman HS) brought Evans home with an RBI double to center field bringing the Lions closer, 5-4.
Aggressive base running by Hodges allowed him to steal third base for a better chance of scoring the game-tying run in the top of the seventh inning. But unfortunately, St. Aug's held Lincoln to a groundout to second base and the win 5-4.
Lincoln's 
Terence Berry, Jr. (Dover, NJ/Dover HS) struck out five batters in four innings pitched. Relief pitcher 
Doug Cook (Dania Beach, FL/University School of Nova SE University) struck out two batters and surrendered no hits or earned runs down the stretch.
William Hodges (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spellman HS) led the Lions with two hits and two RBIs against the Falcons. 
Edwin Rivera (Bronx, N.Y./Gompers HS) also had two hits with an RBI, while 
Steve Talmo (New Castle, Del./William Penn HS) had the other RBI on one hit.
In the later game, St. Augustine's defeated the Lions 4-2. The Falcons opened up a 4-0 advantage while holding Lincoln scoreless until the seventh inning.
Two errors by the Falcons defense allowed both 
Devin Legins (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill Academy) and 
Avery Lomax (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt HS) to finally score for the Lions. Legins reached home on a passed ball while Lomax advanced to third base on an error by the catcher before reaching home plate.  Lincoln was unable to add on any more runs and fell to St. Aug's 4-2.
Pitcher 
Demetrius Robinson (Philadelphia, Pa./Murrell Dobbins HS) began the game against the Falcons and had one strike out while giving up four hits and three earned runs. 
Ronald Lashley (Brooklyn, NY/Benjamin Banneker Academy) pitched in relief and allowed two hits with no earned runs.
Offensively, the Lions struggled with only two hits. 
Stephen Smith (Los Angeles, Calif./Dorsey HS) and 
Steve Talmo (New Castle, Del./William Penn HS) each recorded singles while 
Devin Legins (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill Academy) and 
Avery Lomax (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt HS) both scored runs.
St. Augustine's won the weekend series 3-1 against Lincoln. The Lions fall to 1-8, 1-3 CIAA record and will open at home this week against Chestnut Hill on Wednesday, March 12
th at 1p.m. for a double header at the LU Baseball Complex.
