Box Score Winston-Salem, NC - George Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor HS) scored the game-winning basket with 0.1 seconds left in overtime as The Lincoln University Lions (9-2, 1-1 CIAA) defeated the Rams of Winston-Salem State University, 73-71 on the road.

The Lions played a solid first half against the Rams by outrebounding WSSU 19-16. Lincoln had 30 offensive shot attempts and made four three-pointers. George Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor HS) made both of his attempts from long range while Tony Efese (Spring Valley, NY/St. Joseph Regional HS) and Justin Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor HS) each nailed one. In an evenly matched half, WSSU made 9-14 attempts from the free-throw line and Lincoln went 5-6 as the Rams led 35-31 at halftime.

In a close matchup, Lincoln's bench was a key factor in the second half. Derrick Washington (Washington, DC/Coolidge SHS) led the Lions with 12 points in the second half as LU's bench outscored WSSU 16-4. Washington was 3-6 from the field and 5-8 from the free-throw line.

With 2:32 left in regulation, WSSU had a 64-57 lead but failed to score another point as Lincoln went on a 7-0 run to force overtime. Derrick Washington (Washington, DC/Coolidge SHS) and George Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor HS) both made crucial layups for the Lions in the final two minutes. With 30-seconds left, Derrick Washington (Washington, DC/Coolidge SHS) tied the game at 64 with a three-pointer on the WSSU defense. Lincoln's only three-pointer of the second half came when they needed it the most. The Rams failed to score in the final seconds and the game was sent into overtime.

In overtime, Lincoln forced four WSSU turnovers and was able to convert on 5-6 attempts from the free-throw line. Derrick Washington (Washington, DC/Coolidge SHS) had four points in the overtime, Justin Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor HS) made two free-throws, but George Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor HS) had the final two points including the game-winning layup with 0.1 seconds left on the clock.

George Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor HS) began his drive at the basket with 5-seconds on the clock. He was able to find a way to squeeze through the WSSU defense and score his first game-winning basket as a Lincoln Lion. Lincoln battled WSSU and defeated them in overtime 73-71 on the road.

Derrick Washington (Washington, DC/Coolidge SHS) led the Lions with 21 points, five assists, and three steals. Washington was 8-12 from the free-throw line and Justin Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor HS) was 7-8. The Jackson brothers combined for 31 points with George's 17 points and Justin's 14 points. Will Cole (Newark, NJ/Cesar Chavez HS) grabbed seven rebounds and Chris Kinney (Washington, DC/Theodore Roosevelt SHS) had six rebounds.

Lincoln picks up their first CIAA conference win of the season and improves to 9-2, 1-1 CIAA record. The Lions will travel to Salisbury, NC on Monday, January 6^th to battle Livingstone College.
