Box Score LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University baseball team closed out its three-game CIAA series with Saint Augustine's on Sunday afternoon with a 13-6 loss at the Lincoln University Baseball Field.
The Falcons (25-15 overall, 12-2 CIAA) opened the scoring with two runs in the first, but the Lions answered with two in the bottom half of the inning. Saint Augustine's put the game away in the middle innings, scoring seven runs in the fourth and fifth to take a 11-3 lead.
Lincoln (4-21, 2-13) tried to rally late and plated three runs in the eighth, but it wasn't enough as the Falcons scored two in the ninth for the 13-6 win.
The Lions pounded out seven hits and were led by
Kyle Finneman (South Jordan, Utah/Bingham) and
Martin Evans (Willingboro, N.J./Church Farm HS), who both went 2-for-5.
Richard Holguin (Bronx, N.Y./Fannie Lou Hamer HS),
Maurice Brown (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg HS) and
David Christian (Inglewood, Calif./Alta Loma HS) each had a hit.
Dan Spikes (Fort Washington, Md./Riverdale Baptist HS) (0-4) took the loss in four innings of work. He surrendered nine runs (four earned) on eight hits with five walks and a strikeout.
Demetrius Robinson (Philadelphia, Pa./Murrell Dobbins HS) pitched five innings in relief.
Alex Edwards (3-0) went six strong innings to pick up the win. Chris Rogers and Daveed Todd pitched in relief.
Lincoln steps away from CIAA play for a midweek non-conference doubleheader as the Lions travel to Kutztown on Tuesday, April 9. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
