Box Score 2 MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Lincoln University baseball team suffered a doubleheader setback on Wednesday afternoon, falling 17-4 and 14-0, to Mansfield University at Joseph B. Shaute Field.
In the opener, Lincoln (2-17) got three hits from
Alejandro Jones (Los Angeles, Calif./Dorsey HS) and two from
Steve Talmo (New Castle, Del./William Penn HS) as the Lions couldn't slow down the Mountaineers in a 17-4 loss.
Demetrius Robinson (Philadelphia, Pa./Murrell Dobbins HS) (0-2) took the loss in 1.2 innings.
Phillip Tomsic (Bangor, Mich./Bangor HS) pitched in relief.
Dan Harms (1-0) earned the win in three innings of work. Greg Dayhoff, David Forbes and Louis Sick saw action in relief.
In the second game, Talmo continued his hot streak at the plate with two hits, while
Avery Lomax (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt HS),
Devin Legins (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill Academy) and
Edwin Rivera (Bronx, N.Y./Gompers HS) each had a hit.
Richard Holguin (Bronx, N.Y./Fannie Lou Hamer HS) (0-4) pitched five innings as he took the loss. Legins worked an inning in relief.
Curtis Harpster (Record) started for the Mountaineers and scattered four hits over four innings to get the win. J. Worthington and Nick Keener pitched in relief.
The Lions return home to play their next seven games as Lincoln plays host to Virginia University of Lynchburg in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday, March 30. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m., at the Lincoln University Baseball Field.
