Bench Sparks Lions in Road Victory Over Adelphi, 71-65

Box Score Garden City, NY – Lincoln's bench exploded for 43 points in a 71-65 victory over Adelphi University on Sunday, December 15. The duo of James Stewart (Washington, DC/Charles Herbert Flowers HS) and Derrick Washington (Washington, DC/Coolidge SHS) led the Lions to their sixth consecutive win with a huge second half, outscoring Adelphi 43-32.

Derrick Washington (Washington, DC/Coolidge SHS) scored a season-high 24 points. This marks his first 20+ point scoring performance of the season. Washington played aggressive on the offensive end for the Lions. He made a team season-high nine free-throws with numerous attacks to the rim.

James Stewart (Washington, DC/Charles Herbert Flowers HS) led the second half attack with 14 points (6-8 FG). Stewart and Washington accounted for 26 LU second half points. Lincoln was 12-16 from the free-throw line and shot 52% from the field.

Tony Efese (Spring Valley, NY/St. Joseph Regional HS) led the LU starters with nine points and seven rebounds. Kyle Aiken (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS) had seven points and Justin Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor HS) had six points for the Lions.

The Lions reclaimed the lead early in the second half and held on for a 71-65 non-conference victory over the Panthers. Defensively, the Lions forced nine steals and blocked four shots. Adelphi had 17 turnovers that turned into 23 points for the Lincoln offense. Tony Efese (Spring Valley, NY/St. Joseph Regional HS) recorded three steals and two blocks while Chris Kinney (Washington, DC/Theodore Roosevelt SHS) added two blocks for the Lions.

Lincoln improves to 7-1 overall and will open up CIAA conference play against Johnson C. Smith on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Charlotte, NC.
