Lions Fall to University of Sciences, 67-59

Box Score Philadelphia, PA – The Lincoln University women's basketball team fell on the road 67-59 to University of Sciences on Tuesday, November 19 in Morgan Arena.

Three Lions reached double figure scoring led by Cynthia Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute)'s 14 points, Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) added 12 points with a team-high nine rebounds, and Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) had 10 points. Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) added nine points, seven rebounds, and four steals for Lincoln. University of Sciences led the entire way and held on for a victory at home over Lincoln.

The Lions made six three-pointers, but were held to 27% from the field by the Devils from University of Sciences. Lincoln's defense forced 19 turnovers and scored 15 points off of turnovers.

In the first half, Cynthia Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) went a perfect 3-3 from the field tallying eight points. Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) knocked down two first half three-pointers off the Lions bench for six points. Lincoln was 8-30 from the field while University of Sciences shot 40% from the field. The Lions had 20 rebounds as De'jah Taylor (Nanuet, NY/Paramus Catholic Regional) recorded five rebounds and both Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) and Mieana Gaines (Lincoln Park, MI/Southfield University Academy) had four each.

The Lions attempted a valiant comeback in the final minutes cutting the Devils lead to 60-57 after Cynthia Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) made two free-throws. University of Sciences went on to make seven free-throws to close out the game. Lincoln suffered their first loss this season 67, 59 on the road.

Lincoln falls to 1-1 overall. The Lions will continue their road trip on Thursday, November 21 at 6 p.m. against Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ.
