Lincoln drops pair of matches at CIAA Round-up

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University volleyball team concluded play on Sunday morning in the CIAA Volleyball Round-up as the Lady Lions dropped a pair of hard-fought matches to Saint Augustine's University and Fayetteville State University at Manuel Rivero Gymnasium.
 
Lincoln (0-6 overall, 0-5 CIAA) fell in the opening match to Saint Augustine's, 3-0, with scores of 25-13, 25-22, 25-22. In the final match, the Lady Lions fought hard, but it wasn't enough as Fayetteville State won the match, 3-0, with scores of 25-10, 25-18, 25-16.
 
Against the Lady Falcons, Briana McKellery (Odenton, MD/Arundel HS) and Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) recorded seven and six kills, respectively, to pace the Lincoln offense. Johnson and Sydney Cook (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) each had 11 digs, while Jillian Lee (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) finished with four assists.
 
In the final match against the Lady Broncos, McKellery had a team-high four kills, while Lee and Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, Md./Parkside HS) each added three. Cook paced the Lady Lions defensively with 11 digs.
 
Lincoln returns to CIAA Northern Division play 6 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 20 in Richmond, Va., to take on Virginia Union University.
