Box Score MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Demetrius Morris collected three hits, while 
Kevin Cicali (Absecon, N.J./Holy Spirit HS) and 
Maurice Brown (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg HS) had two each, but it wasn't enough as the Lincoln University baseball team dropped the final game of the CIAA series with Chowan, 9-3, on Sunday afternoon at Hawkins Field.
 
The Lions (3-16 overall, 1-6 CIAA) opened the scoring in the top of the first inning as Morris singled to begin the game and advanced to third when Cicali doubled down the line in right. With one down, Brown reached on a fielder's choice as Morris was out at home. Brown took second on a throwing error as Cicali scored on the play to give Lincoln a 1-0 lead.
 
Chowan answered with a run in the bottom half of the first and took a 4-1 lead into the third where the Lions looked to rally.
 
Martin Evans (Willingboro, N.J./Church Farm HS) reached on a fielding error to begin the frame and advanced to second when Morris singled through the left side. After a sacrifice bunt moved the runners up a base, Christian reached on a fielder's choice as Evans was out at home. However, Brown ripped a two-out single to right to score Morris and cut the margin to 4-2.
 
The Lions continued to try to cut the deficit with a run in the eighth as Morris reached on infield single and advanced to second on a passed ball. Cicali brought Morris in on a base hit to left.
 
Kyle Brooks (Baltimore, Md./Seton Hill HS) (0-2) took the loss in eight innings of work. He surrendered nine runs (five earned) on 13 hits with one strikeout.
 
John Deschamps picked up the win with a complete-game. He gave up three runs (one earned) on nine hits with four strikeouts.  
 
The Lions open up a three-game CIAA series on Tuesday, April 3 in Raleigh, N.C., against Shaw University. Lincoln will meet the Bears for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m., on Tuesday and conclude the series with a single game at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, April 4.
