WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –
Denzel Mooney (Baltimore, Md./Western School of Technology) and
Derrick Washington (Washington, DC/Coolidge SHS) scored in double figures, but it wasn't enough to lift the Lincoln University men's basketball team as the Lions dropped a 59-52 decision to Winston-Salem State University on Monday night in a CIAA contest at the C.E. Gaines Center.
Mooney finished with 18 points on 7-of-19 shooting to lead the Lions attack. Washington added 17 points, including going 6-of-10 from the foul line, while
Chris Kinney (Washington, DC/Theodore Roosevelt SHS) pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds as Lincoln (7-9 overall, 2-3 CIAA) was 19-of-60 from the floor for 32 percent.
Lincoln led 29-25 at the break, but Winston-Salem State used a 23-14 run during the final 13 minutes to get the win.
Justin Glover paced the Rams (13-2, 6-0) with 17 points, including going 7-of-8 from the charity stripe. Kimani Hunt added 15 points as Winston-Salem State was 19-of-37 from the field for 51 percent.
The Lions travel 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 19 to Raleigh, N.C., to take on Shaw University in a CIAA contest at C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. To follow live stats of the game, click the link at:
