Short-staffed Lady Lions downed by Saint Paul's

Alease Tabb cleaned up the glass to tune of 10 rebounds.
RICHMOND, Va. (February 24, 2011) — The injury-ravaged Lady Lions fell to Saint Paul's College in the regular-season finale, 74-61, at Barco-Stevens Hall.

Although Lincoln missed its opportunity to sweep after defeating Saint Paul's earlier in the month, the heart displayed by the six LU women that did play quells any fears headed into the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Basketball Tournament next week in Charlotte, N.C.

Brittney Waters (Capitol Heights, Md./Charles H. Flowers) scored a career-high 26 points, surpassing the career-high 22 she tallied on Jan. 17 versus Winston-Salem State. It's her fourth 20-point game of the season and her second in a row.  Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, Md./Parkside HS) offered 17 points in her first game in 10 days following a concussion she sustained against Salem International on Feb. 14. Alease Tabb (Brooklyn, NY/Middle College High School) snared a career-high 10 rebounds. Newly minted All-CIAA Rookie Team member Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) totaled five steals.

With the loss and the resulting season split with Saint Paul's (3-22, 1-17 CIAA, 2-10 North), the Lady Lions (3-23, 1-17 CIAA, 1-11 North) fall into seventh place in the Northern Division as the Lady Tigers hold the tiebreaker with the additional conference win. That means LU will have to take on either Shaw University or Winston-Salem State University representing the No. 2 seed from the South in the first round of the conference championships next week. The opponent hinges on the games those schools played tonight.
