Box Score
MURFREESBORO, N.C. (February 10, 2011) — Although she surely would have rather reached the feat at home, there must be relief that the wait is over.
Needing 15 points to reach 1,000 for her career, senior guard DeJuana Mosley (Chester, PA/Chester) tallied a season-high 18 on Thursday night versus Chowan University (12-10, 9-5 CIAA, 7-1 North). She also hauled in 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
Joining her in double figures were freshman point guard Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) (15) and junior guard Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, Md./Parkside HS) (10).
The offensive balance could not counter the explosiveness of Chowan University at the Helms Center, downing Lincoln (2-19, 1-13 CIAA, 1-7 North), 79-49.
The Lady Lions had a hard time trying keep up with the offensive onslaught that CU put forth. Chowan University would score the first eight points of the game and would not let go of that lead for the rest of the contest.
Led by astonishing performances by Ransheda Jennings and Talaya Lynch, who had 20 and 22 points apiece, the Hawks were able to keep their foot on the gas.
It was not until a much needed trey ball was hit by Mosley at 17:16 in the first half that LU had finally put points on the board.
DeJuana Mosley (Chester, PA/Chester) will go on to join DuBose on the list of 1,000-point scorers that were fortunate enough to be a part of such a wonderful legacy. DuBose had accomplished the feat, ironically enough, also against the Hawks.
She now has 1,003 points on her career with more than enough time to add to that total with five games left in the season.
