LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University women's basketball team got a double-digit performance by
Denyse Moore (Hampton, Va./Woodside HS), but it wasn't enough to propel the Lady Lions by St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday as the Lady Spartans knocked off Lincoln, 57-42, at Manuel Rivero Hall.
“Our thorn in our side has been turnovers, unnecessary turnovers,” Lincoln head coach
Jessica Kern said. “We need to go back to the drawing board. We have another game on Monday and then we have a full week to get ourselves prepared for Central State. The girls are extremely deflated tonight and it hurts. But overall, we have to go back to the drawing board and the number one thing is to minimize are turnovers.”
Moore had the hot hand for Lincoln (3-4), pouring in 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting as the Lady Lions were 17-of-45 from the floor for 38 percent.
St. Thomas Aquinas led 24-19 at the break and out-scored Lincoln in the second half, 33-23.
Briana Sloper paced St. Thomas Aquinas (4-3) with 24 points on 10-of-19 from the field. Briana Cook finished with 22 points and Kim Vareles pulled down a game-high nine boards as the Lady Spartans shot 38 percent (23-of-60).
The Lady Lions return to action 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 5 at Manuel Rivero Hall against Washington Adventist.
