MURFREESBORO, N.C. — The Lincoln University baseball team suffered a pair of loses in the first of back-to-back CIAA doubleheaders Friday versus Chowan.
The Hawks defeated the Lions, 20-4 and 16-1 as Lincoln falls to 0-6 in 2010. LU travels to Lawrenceville, Va., to face Saint Paul's College Saturday.
Game One
Melvin Robinson (Bear, DE/William Penn) delivered Lincoln's first homer of the year with a two-run bomb in the seventh inning. Overall, he was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs, a run scored and a hit-by-pitch.
Chowan, though, used 13 runs in the first three innings to secure the win, touching up Maurice Brown (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg HS) for 13 runs in 2.1 innings pitched.
Game Two
Brown moved to first in the second game and found redemption at the plate with two of Lincoln's three hits including the Lions' lone RBI, delivered on a first-inning single to left field.
Chowan scored five runs in the first and six in second off starting pitcher Alex Donald, who finished the game allowing 13 runs on 12 hits and seven walks in five innings.
