Defense stout in 2-0 loss

TAKOMA PARK, Md. Andre Wilkinson (St. Michael's, Barbabos/William Grady) was Lincoln University's main savior Sunday at the soccer match between the Lions and Washington Adventist University. Although Lincoln fell 2-0, Wilkinson had 10 saves.

Wilkinson's stand-out day was part of a great collaborative defensive effort. Although the Lions were outshot, 25-8, they still managed to stop the Shock from taking a greater lead.

Alex McNeil, Steven Sangster, and Shawn Huey (Jamaica/Evander Childs HS) solidified Lincoln's backline by limiting the number of good opportunities WAU had even though it possessed the ball the bulk of the game.

The game would remain scoreless until Abanda Newanyou converted a penalty kick 10 minutes into the second half. He would add another in the 81st minute to put the game out of reach.

Offensively, LU was led by Justin Weathers (Atglen, PA/Octurara Area) and Adedotun Oshio with three shots respectively.

Wilkinson and Joseph Forde (Siparia, Trinidad & Tobagho/Bensalem) also added a shot each, bringing Lincoln's shot total to eight.
