Lions fall behind early in loss to Hawks

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Lincoln University men's soccer team fell behind early and couldn't rall as the Lions fell to Chowan, 10-0, on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Hawks (1-9) got a goal off a rebound by Caleb Blaize in the sixth minute and Kenny Moore added to the advantage with a goal in the ninth minute to give Chowan a 2-0 lead.
 
Moore scored his second goal in the 19th minute and Adam Smith and Eric Nguyen each found the back of the net as the Hawks took a 5-0 lead into the break.
 
Chowan got second-half goals by Misidro Lopez, Raimond Kwarteng, Josh Gross, Ferdinand Meggs and Brandon Chambers.
 
Christian Valdez (Washington DC/) had 10 saves in goal for Lincoln (0-9), while Ethan Phelps and Cody Coerse finished with one and two saves, respectively.
 
The Lions travel 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 19 to Takoma, Md., to take on Washington Adventist.
