LEWISBURG, Pa. — Freshman sensation Bienna Freeman continues to dominate whenever and wherever she runs. Her latest victims were those at the Bucknell Heptagonal, where she won the 800 meters for the second consecutive week and ran the third leg of LU's win the victorious 4x400-meter relay team.
Those points counted for 20 of LU's 26 team points and a sixth place finish Saturday. Shippensburg ousted host Bucknell from the top spot, 153-129.50. Duquesne (112), Towson (79), East Stroudsburg (40) and Saint Francis (21.50) also participated.
Freeman won the 800-meters at the University of Delaware Invitational Jan. 9 and finished second last week at the University of Maryland. This time, her 2:16.66 took first.
Freeman, on the 4x400-meter relay with Antonia Jones (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast) (Philadelphia, PA, Northeast), Kristina Rembert (Bronx, NY/Cathedral) (Bronx, NY, Cathedral) and Esha Wannamaker, ran a 3:55.31, edging Duquesne by .58 seconds. To qualify for the ECACs, they need a 3:53.94.
Courtney Malcolm also is not far off from the mark in the long jump. Her jump of 5.20 meters was fifth for two team points. She needs a 5.60 mark to earn a berth in the ECACs.
Saturday, the track teams travel to Newark for the Thomson Invitational.
