Nationally-ranked West Chester defeats Lincoln

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. (April 8, 2009) – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania baseball dropped a 17-0 decision to nationally-ranked West Chester University Wednesday afternoon. (BOXSCORE)

 

Lincoln senior Joe Kruemmer (Middletown, DE/Hodgson Vo-Tech) had the Lions' only hit of the game with a single to centerfield in the third inning. Robert Webster (Washington, DC/Bishop McNamara) and Kyle Brooks (Baltimore, Md./Seton Hill HS) also reached base for Lincoln with walks in the fourth inning. Starting pitcher Alexander Donald (Los Angeles, Calif./Dorsey HS) retired the Golden Rams (27-9 overall) in order on nine pitches in the top of the first inning.

 

West Chester is currently ranked ninth nationally in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Sports Writers Association Division II poll and first in the Atlantic Region. Six of West Chester's hits were home runs.

 

Lincoln returns to action Saturday afternoon when it hosts Elizabeth City State in a doubleheader beginning at Noon.
