Lincoln's hit parade can't derail Saint Augustine's

OXFORD, PA. (March 31, 2009) – DeJuana Mosley (Chester, PA/Chester) had a pair of triples and Sharell McMillan (Levittown, PA/Harry S. Truman) finished with four hits over two games, but the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania softball team dropped a pair of 15-6 and 10-1 decisions to Saint Augustine's College Tuesday afternoon. Mosley and McMillan were two of five Lady Lions to have two hits in the opening game. The Lady Lions finished with 12 hits and had constant pressure on the bases throughout the game. Also registering two hits each for Lincoln were Tanina Cook (Landover, MD/Charles Herbert Flowers), Charisse Colston (Oakwood Village, OH/Bedford) and Rahinet Koti. The Lady Lions trailed, 7-4 entering the top of the sixth inning before Saint Augustine's broke the game open by scoring six times in the sixth inning.

Mosley, who started the second game, tripled in each game. McMillan had two hits in the second game for Lincoln. The tandem of McMillan and Cook combined for the Lady Lions only run of the first game. They led off the bottom of the first inning with consecutive singles. They advanced to third and second, respectively, after Britny Adams successfully moved the runners with a groundout to the right side. Mosley lifted a sacrifice fly to rightfield to score McMillan.

For McMillan, it was her seventh multi-hit game of the season. McMillan has recorded at least two hits in three of her last four games. She is second on the team with 17 hits. While Cook also swung a strong bat, she was terrific on defense, starting a pair of double plays. In the second game, Adams struck out a career-high seven batters.

Lincoln returns to action Wednesday afternoon when it travels to East Stroudsburg University for a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader.
